Makes 16

1 1/2 cups plain flour

3/4 cup butter or oil

1/4 cup cocoa or cacao powder

1 tsp vanilla essence

2 tsp baking powder

3/4 cup sweetener of choice- sugar, maple syrup etc.

1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

2. Combine flour, cocoa/cacao and baking powder.

3. In another bowl, mix together butter/oil, vanilla and sweetener)

4.Roll even spoonfuls on tray and flatten slightly.

5. Bake for roughly 12-15 minutes. Leave to cool for 5 minutes.

*Other notes

– You can also add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips or nuts

– Add 1 tsp of peppermint extract to make them choc-mint biscuits.
