Have you ever wondered why when we are given a compliment or a positive comment we accept it and move on, whereas when something perhaps negative or hurtful is said, you dwell on it and it affects you more than a compliment does?

Why is it we can’t accept ourselves for who we are? Why is it we choose to let our flaws outweigh all the good things about ourselves? Why is it we constantly put ourselves down?

Every single one of us is an original. There is no one else that is exactly you. We all have different stories, journeys, experiences, talents, personalities, strengths, weaknesses, appearances and lives in general, but this makes you unique and one of a kind.

  • Some of us like chocolate, some don’t.
  •  Some of us may not be good at sport, some are.
  •  Some of us love being outdoors, some don’t.
  • Some of us have certain weaknesses others may find a strength.

And the list goes on…

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”

We all have at least one thing we dislike or want to change about ourselves, but in reality, you are amazing just the way you are! I certainly don’t like things about myself and sometimes find I am trying to change who I am just to be a certain way. Although, I was made the way I am for a reason-just like all of you. We all have imperfections, although honestly that is ok! This may not make a lot of sense, but our imperfections along with our strengths and everything else makes us perfect.

“Be yourself, because everyone else is taken”

We are all on different paths and are different in general. Though there is nothing wrong with being different! In fact being different is great! If you ever feel like you are trying to change yourself just to be accepted by others, always keep in mind that other people already like you for the way you are. Besides, what is the point of changing yourself? You’re not being who you are, and others won’t get to know the real you. You’re not being true to yourself or others for that fact.

Don’t compare yourself to others. You were made the way you were for a reason, just like everyone else. You have certain abilities and talents; others may not and vice versa. Love yourself for the way you are.  You can’t achieve all the things you’re meant to or be your own person, when you’re constantly comparing yourself to others.

“Do not underestimate yourself by comparing yourself with others. It’s our differences that make us unique and define just how special we are.”

You are all amazing, unique individuals and should embrace all you’ve been given! Accept yourself for who you are and don’t be afraid to be yourself! Be your own person.
